Iowa-Based Heartland Inns of America
First in Iowa to Provide Free Wireless Internet in Every Room
WATERLOO, Iowa— Providing high-speed Internet access is a growing
trend for some hotels—many at a fee. But locally owned Heartland Inns
will now offer this service for free to all customers in every room, in
every area of every Heartland Inn.
Iowa business and leisure travelers will receive free wireless high-speed
Internet access at all Heartland Inns by May 10, 2004.
“Offering this service in every room is important to us because we
value every guest,” says Sandy Minard, director of operations at Heartland
Inns of America. “Our local ownership allows us to move quickly when
we see an opportunity to provide innovative service to our customers.”
Tantus Network Solutions, based in Chicago, Ill., was awarded the contract
to install the services. They specialize in wireless data networking to
commercial properties, residential high-rises, hotels and resorts. The Heartland
Inns of America project will include cutting-edge security (including VPN
technology) allowing access to customers whose business requires confidentiality
(not all wireless systems include secure connection). Owners David and Chris
Wieland and VP of Sales Nick Kremer commend owners of Heartland Inns of
America for their vision for innovation and foresight.
The Internet access will be available in every Heartland Inn hotel room,
pool area, breakfast area, lobby, and meeting room.
This is not the first time Heartland Inns of America has led the industry
with a new idea. They recently invested almost $1,000,000 into their hotels,
replacing every mattress with a new Serta Perfect Pillow-Top Sleeper®.
Heartland Inns of American began operation in 1984 and is headquartered
in Waterloo, IA. They have 19 locations in 15 Iowa communities and 1 hotel
in Eau Claire, Wis.
